"The opening statement and closing benediction bookend a career that deserves wider recognition. Smith may not possess the bombast of his more celebrated contemporaries, but his quiet mastery of mood and atmosphere marks him as a songwriter of considerable depth."
Indie Dock Music Blog 2025

"Smith's songwriting displays the kind of narrative sophistication that recalls the best of Nick Drake's introspection filtered through Ray Davies' observational wit."

Esteemed Judges, For Your Consideration.
Thank you for your time in reviewing my work. I appreciate you have a lot to get through, so I will try and present everything seamlessly, so things are easy for you to navigate through and you shouldn’t have to chop and change around different sites too much.
Firstly, congratulations on your gold award recently and making it to the judges circle. Something I aspire to this year.
Secondly, I hope you enjoy what you hear whilst you are listening to my work and if you have any questions about anything, please ask.

I’m extremely honoured and a little overwhelmed to have made it through in so many categories. To be brutally honest, Songwriter, Single & Band Single and Musician are the categories closest to my heart and if I had to choose any, those would be the priorities. But, I’m going for gold in all! So, relax, grab a coffee and let me take you through each category. Thank you for your time again.
My songwriting has evolved so much in the last couple of years. I play and sing everything you will hear on these songs - except violin on Legends, courtesy of Emily, and her vocal of course! The Guitars, Bass, Keys, Piano, Vocals, Percussion and some drums - I have friends guest occasionally - are all played by me and also I record, mix, produce and engineer everything as well.
Significantly from the I Want To Take You Far EP last year, I have collaborated with Emily E. Finke from Florida to release our single Legends. To note - the vocals on this record were recorded in the hotel in Atlanta last year, the day before the award show. This was actually done on the second take, using the figure 8 configuration on the microphone. I then took it back and produced it in my studio back in Australia. A song about crossing mountains of gold and chasing cities of light, “Legends” tells a haunting story of time and distance - time that turns legends to myth and distance that separates mirage from truth. This was released in October 2025.
This song is my nomination for Band Single of the Year along with Duo of the Year with Emily.
December 2025 saw the release of How Do We Keep Moving On. Incorporating the brooding intensity of 80’s dark rock, “How Do We Keep Moving On” is a powerful anthem of resilience and defiance. Driven by relentless beats and atmospheric guitar riffs, the track captures the relentless fight to rise above life’s toughest challenges. It’s a sonic journey through struggle and perseverance—crafted for those who refuse to give up.
I experimented in production with this track. Incorporating some new ideas I hadn’t applied before and I am really happy with how it sounded.
February 2026, LLT was released. Now this track was on my debut album, released in 2012. The song had a new light shine on it after the release of my greatest hits album and TJ from Indie-centric radio loved it so much, he was playing it for 9 months! I had it re-mastered and it has now won awards with Clouzine, EIMA and it is my nomination for Single of the Year. It has picked up some huge momentum and has gone viral, even topping Rick Spins' Top 15 and going through to the battle of the number 1’s later this year.
Released in June this year is No Way Home. If you know me, you would know that my journey home from the awards in Atlanta last year took an unexpected turn. My flight was cancelled in San Francisco, thus leaving me with a 20 hour wait in the airport. I then had to fly to Singapore and then back to Adelaide, elongating my trip by a further 26 hours and also missing the morning of my sons birthday. Thankfully, I made it back so I was home when he returned from school.
This song has pushed me vocally, musically and also on a production level. This is definitely one of the best songs I have written and I am so proud of it, especially as everything is so personal that I sing about.
All the tracks are below. Just press play, it won’t take you to a streaming site. Everything is right here for you.
Thank you for your time again. I hope you enjoyed your the tunes and reading what they are about.
